Description

  Wide-cut 5° F mummy with a GORE® Windstopper™ shell

When places like the Cascades or Rocky Mountains are your stomping grounds and you need a light and warm bag to push the 3-season boundaries, leave nothing to chance with the Western Mountaineering Antelope GWS. It features a Gore Windstopper™ shell: the most water-resistant, windproof, and breathable fabric suitable for sleeping bags for extreme weather protection. The down-filled collar and draft tube are also made with GWS to prevent moisture absorption and keep the wind out of your bag. The Antelope's roomy 62" shoulder girth allows for comfort and the 7" loft from 26 ounces of high-lofting 850+ down provides warmth to 5° F. The neck and zipper of this bag are sealed with a full 3-dimensional down-filled Super Collar and a robust draft tube. This 5° F sleeping bag takes over in early spring and lasts till late fall, and is the most substantial of Western's 3-season bags.

Like all of Western Mountaineering's bags, the Antelope GWS is made by hand in San Jose, California. Their down is sourced from free-range mother geese who are never live-plucked or force-fed.

Footprint sold separately.

Zero-Drop Trail Runner Gets Durability Upgrade: Altra Lone Peak 9 Review
The snow was slick white on the Rocky Mountain trail in Colorado. It had been packed into a luge-like grade that sloped outward toward some exposed rocky terrain. The February cold pressed in as I hiked in the new Altra Lone Peak 9 shoes. Normally, this time of year, I’d be wearing boots or some sort of traction device, but...
Range Rover Launches Fashion Apparel: ‘London Collection’
If James Bond had a Hot Wheels collection, he probably wouldnt miss out on the limited-edition sculptures just dropped by Range Rover. Hed be obligated to buy in, really, given the iconic vehicles placement in No Time to Die. And since hes a globe-trotting super spy, he likely wouldnt blink at paying $563 just for an all-aluminum version of a...
Pretty Punisher: GiantMouse ACE Tribeca Review
“Hey, does anyone have a knife handy?” The words ring like music to my ears. I have no shortage of pocket blades to offer, but today, I have one of the most high-profile, expensive folding knives Ive ever carried, begging to take the spotlight. I pluck the GiantMouse ACE Tribeca from my pocket and feel the still-unfamiliar smoothness of the...
Brave the Elements in These Burly Bottom Layers: Black Diamond Alpine Pants Review
We woke up in the dark, rubbing the sleep out of our eyes, anxiously anticipating our summit push. The slight chill in the air would mean better snow travel conditions for our ascent, so we dragged ourselves out of our cozy sleeping bags and fired up our stove for instant coffee. Alpine starts are always rough at first, but we...
How Vert-Tracking Apps Are Reshaping Ski Culture
Robert Baker clicks his flame-orange Tecnica boots into his bindings on the summit of Rendezvous Mountain, the high point of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Folks are just waking up in the valley below, but at 53, with bristling gray eyebrows, perma-rosied cheeks and a mariners beard, Baker wastes no time. I watch Baker drop into Rendezvous Bowl, his skis cutting...
Ice Fishing Safety 101: Tips, Hazards, Gear, and More
Ice fishing is one of the few sports where sitting in a chair and drinking coffee (or beer) counts as peak performance. Its just you, a frozen body of water, and the promise of a big catch. But while the promise of pulling a lunker through a tiny hole is real, so are the risks. Every season, anglers take unexpected...
Over-Stacked: Ultramarathon Winner Disqualified for Illegal Shoes
At first, the results of this weekends 100-mile ultramarathon in Henderson, Nev., seemed clear. Rajpaul Pannu, a 33-year-old runner sponsored by HOKA, had set a new course record in the 2025 USATF 100-mile Road Championships, breaking the finish line tape with an impressive time of 11:52:46. Hed even set a new personal best from the previous year, when Pannu also...
Fork Failure: BMC Issues Recall for Kaius 01 Gravel Bikes
BMC announced a voluntary recall today for Kaius 01 gravel bikes and frames. The brand said it received reports of a few instances where certain fork steerer tubes have separated under heavy duty riding conditions. The defect in question rests with the carbon steerer tube. This is part of the fork that extends through the frames head tube and connects...
This Hiker Hydration Hack Is Now a Product You Can Buy
Almost every hiker box I have ever seen after 11,000 miles on American trails has the same litter problem: the thin plastic water bags that accompany the popular Sawyer Squeeze, the most efficient and reliable water filter I have ever used. In theory, these ubiquitous black-and-blue mylar bags are a hikers dream, able to hold nearly a liter of water...
Columbia, NASCAR Resurrect Iconic ‘Bugaboo’ Jacket With Uncanny Throwback Car
Motorsports fans and gear nerds can unite this weekend when the number 23 Toyota — driven by Bubba Wallace and sponsored by Columbia Sportswear — blazes laps at Atlanta Motor Speedway in an unmistakably outdoor-themed car. Harkening back to simpler times with bolder looks, the 510-horsepower Camry will leap from the 39-car field before the green flag even drops. Thats...

Weve got several crowdfunding projects to show off this week, from electric motorcycles to inflatable dog beds, as well as new releases from tried-and-true camping brands like Snow Peak and EXPED. So take a load off, pour a cup of coffee, and enjoy a few minutes of blissful online window-shopping with this...
The Cold Hard Facts of Freezing to Death
What happens to your body when you get lost and confused on a mountain in the bitter cold of a winter night? In 2016, The Outside Podcast launched with this harrowing story of a lost motorist fighting for his life. Based on Peter Starks classic feature, Frozen Alive, it is still considered a high-water mark for experiential audio storytelling. ...
