Avalanche Rescue Set Diract
$351.00
Description

The Diract Avalanche Rescue Set includes lightweight, reliable avalanche equipment for beginners. Ortovox chose the components to be highly intuitive so they can be easily mastered even in stressful situations.

  DIRACT AVALANCHE TRANSCEIVER

The Diract combines intuitive operation with state-of-the-art technology and a handy, clever design. It is streamlined down to just one button and ensures intuitive user guidance in stressful situations thanks to clear symbols and a 360-degree real-time display. Equipped with patented Smart Antenna Technology, the Diract significantly increases the chances of avalanche burial victims being found. The device analyzes its location in the avalanche and automatically switches to the best transmitting antenna. Both state-of-the-art digital three-antenna technology and an automatic secondary avalanche switchover are standard with Ortovox. In addition to the SEND and SEARCH modes, there is also a standby mode for suppressing the signal during the search. The rechargeable low-temperature battery provides a reliable power supply even at -20°C and is particularly long-lasting and environmentally friendly.

By registering online with Ortovox, your warranty extends from 2 to 5 years!

  ALU 240 PROBE

A simple probe with quick-lock assembly system: the Alu 240 is reduced to the essentials. The quick-lock assembly system allows for quick and simple set up. It is therefore ready for use in just seconds, and can be collapsed and folded just as quickly. The tension can be set by simply turning the optimized adjusting screw. The large probe tip, which has a significantly larger diameter compared to the probe elements, ensures improved penetration. The low weight is achieved by using aluminum with a diameter of 11mm. As with all Ortovox probes, the Alu 240 features easy-to-read depth markers, a clear 1-meter marker and a neon orange bottom segment to optimally adapt the shoveling strategy.

  BADGER SHOVEL

The Badger is a super lightweight aluminum shovel with an ergonomic, hybrid grip for maximum power transmission. Its sizable blade volume of 2.5 liters is backed up by robust design, pronounced center ridge and high side walls for full rigidity. Non-slip grooves on the top edge of the blade provide adequate traction when wearing boots. A centering aid in the shaft socket facilitates rapid assembly.

10 Black Friday Wellness Deals to Give You a Head Start on Your 2025 Resolutions
In the chaos of year’s end, it’s easy to forget to prioritize yourself. After all, few of us have time for serious goal-setting or self-care amid the airport runs, in-law-wrangling, and countless other rings of the family circus. Inevitably, the New Year sneaks up on us before we have any time to plan or ponder. By the time we figure...
Old Trails, New Perspectives: Cowgirls Go Skiing in TGR’s New Film ‘The Way Back’
Some people reach their ski lines by snowmobile. Some reach their lines by helicopter. Believe it or not, there are even folks out there who ride on horseback, skis hung like rifles from their saddles, to get to snow-covered slopes. In TGRs latest film, The Way Back, three female adventurers show us how that last version is done. Amy Jane...
10 More Years of ‘Acres for America’: Walmart Pledges $34.5 Million to Habitat Conservation
Since 2005, Walmart has partnered with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) to fund a program called Acres for America. At its outset, Walmart promised the program would conserve a single acre of wildlife habitat for every acre of land it developed. It has far exceeded that goal in the last 2 decades. Over the next decade, Walmart has...
70 Miles a Day? 800-Mile Arizona Trail FKT Was ‘An Absolute Blast’
When Nick Fowler started his record-setting fastest known time (FKT) run of the Arizona Trail, its safe to say that his condition was far from perfect. Fowler and his wife welcomed their first child, Canyon, at the end of September. So, he was sleep-deprived and way behind on training. He first embarked on the trail on Oct. 24, ran over...
Mikaela Shiffrin Races Saturday for Historic 100th World Cup Win
Only three skiers in the 57-year history of the FIS World Cup have won over 100 ski races. Amélie Wenger-Reymond, a telemark skier from Switzerland, tops the chart with an astounding 164 wins to her name. Behind her, Marit Bjørgen, a cross-country skier from Norway, has 114, and then Conny Kissling, a freestyle skier also from Switzerland, has 106. Following her...
An Ode to the Worst Adventure Car—and All the Places It Took Me
I think of my old car sometimes when I drive by the Walmart Supercenter. The parking lot there was essentially the launch point of my first real long-distance road trip as an adult, spanning ten days and eight states in the late spring of 2004. We drove my 1996 Pontiac Grand Am GT, a car that my friend Nick announced...
I Took a Star-Trek Inspired Journey on a Retro-Futuristic Bike
As a parent and an American during an election year, I had to make all sorts of crucial decisions in 2024. The most difficult and important of all was which bike to bring with me on my summer vacation. Each year at the end of August my family and I travel to Adirondack Park in upstate New York, where the cycling...
The 9 Wildest Golf Courses in America
Golf gets a bad rap. The sport has a reputation for being too expensive and too resource-intensive, which are true in some cases. There are private clubs so expensive you need to be a billionaire to join, and courses where the landscape was bulldozed to make way for overwatered and overfertilized fairways. But not every golf course is that way....
This Game-Changing Device Could Upend Training as We Know It
Back in 2021, cycling’s international governing body, the UCI, issued a new set of rules banning the use of devices measuring “any metabolic values such as but not limited to glucose or lactate” in competition. The rules were aimed at the emerging use of continuous glucose monitors in the peloton, but the mention of lactate sparked widespread curiosity. Did the...
Level Up Your Adventure Readiness: 2025 Nissan Rogue Rock Creek Review
I press the hill descent control button in the center of the drive mode dial and take a deep breath before slowly letting my foot off the brake. The Nissan Rogue Rock Creek crests a peak and starts rolling down a steep path filled with chunky 2-inch diameter rock and loose sand. The anti-lock brakes furiously buzz from one corner...
First Attempt, No Falls: Babsi Zangerl Achieves First Flash of El Capitan
Babsi Zangerl climbed Freerider (VI, 5.13a) on El Capitan in Yosemite this past weekend, reaching the top of the 3,300-foot-tall formation without falling on the first attempt. Reaching the top of a climbing route in this manner is called a flash. Zangerls flash makes it the first one on the most famous rock climbing formation. Zangerl, 36, is one of...
G3 Returns: Canadian Sports Company Revives Shuttered Ski Brand
Following a court-ordered restructure in August 2024, the Canadian backcountry ski brand Genuine Gear Guide (G3) faced a tumultuous future. On Aug. 9, the Supreme Court of British Columbia ordered a Canadian accounting firm, Deloitte, to take over G3s assets and make a plan to liquidate them. However, a recently announced acquisition might have saved the legacy ski brand. Canadawide Sports,...
