Ultralight, four-season tent for winter adventures near treeline

Built to be the ultimate shelter for backcountry skiers, splitboarders and snowshoers, the MSR Access 2 tent is lighter than a mountaineering tent, but warmer than a 3-season backpacking tent. Limited mesh on the tent body offers greater warmth on frigid nights, while the light and packable design saves you precious energy on the climb and descent. The interior is spacious for changing clothes, and the strong frame resists overnight snow loading. Quick to set up, the tent offers the protection needed for camping in less severe conditions, such as those near treeline—making it perfect for accessing the bowls, ridges and powder fields above.

Footprint sold separately.

When choosing protection, riders usually face a tough compromise. You often choose between hard plastic/EPS foam, which is protective but can feel like a sauna and restricts movement, or viscoelastic foam like D3O. Viscoelastic foam is a great solution, but in cold weather, it can become noticeably rigid and uncomfortable. Koroyd, a brand usually associated with the distinct green straw...

Battery power is no doubt a necessity today, especially for folks like hunters, who are well separated from wall outlets while in the field. A Dialed Pack for Big Backcountry Adventures: Raide Research LF 30L Review
My face pressed against the glass of the helicopter, I gazed out across the Alps, drooling over Mount Blancs terrifying northern slope and the endless peaks stretching all the way to the Matterhorn.
