Ascent 22 Avabag (Fall 2022)
$525.00
Description

Technical, ultra-lightweight avalanche airbag pack for backcountry touring

The Ortovox Ascent 22 Avabag is an extremely light avalanche backpack: including the Avabag system (the airbag system developed by Ortovox) and cartridge, it weighs only 1950 grams.

The light and sensationally compact airbag system weighs in at just 690 grams. Another special feature of the Avabag system is the activation training: you can practice activating it again and again without the cartridge attached, so that you can be well prepared for an emergency situation.

One reason for the low weight of the Ortovox Ascent 22 Avabag is the use of extremely light but abrasion-resistant materials such as 100D Robic Ripstop nylon. But this airbag pack is not only light, it also provides a high level of comfort. The foamed 3D back system distributes the weight evenly between the hip fins and the lightly padded shoulder straps. Features such as a circular front zipper that provides quick access to your equipment, as well as a diagonal ski attachment, an ice axe holder and a rope fastener, make this pack what it is: a technical, ultra-lightweight avalanche backpack for challenging ski tours.

Please note, the cartridge needed to inflate the airbag is not included. It is sold separately in "Options and Accessories" below.

Footprint sold separately.

My Cycling Buddies Bought E-Bikes. Now I Can’t Keep Up.
Dear Sundog: My buddies and I have been mountain biking together for more than 20 years. We’re not racers, but we ride hard and push each other. A few years back, one of the guys had a hip replacement and could no longer keep up, so he got an e-mountain bike. It was the right call to keep the gang...
Planning to Hunt Utah? Expect Fees to Double
Utah is raising nonresident hunting fees across the board, with some costs set to double. The fee increases, effective July 1, 2025, come as part of Senate Bill 8, which aims to support wildlife management and conservation efforts. Work Pants Flex for Camping & Hiking: PATH Projects Wildwood Pant Review
While scooting down sandstone and leaping across streams in Moab canyons, I often forgot I was wearing the same canvas pants I wear at work in Denver. In both locales, its move-with-you stretch and ample breathability proved a surprise for the thicker feel of its fabric. They caught my attention because these sturdy pants seem to run counter to the...
The Lightest Single Climbing Rope Ever Made: Edelrid Siskin Eco-Dry 8.6 Review
Gravity is the constant enemy in climbing, and lessening its effects is the primary consideration for high-end sport climbing. The rope is one of the largest contributors to climbing weight, increasing as you progress up the route.
