Bison Gore Infinium
$1,270.00 - $1,310.00
Description

Western's warmest bag at -40° F; windproof and highly water-resistant.

Denali, Aconcagua, the Himalaya... mountaineering in the extreme. These are places where the margin for error is zero, and so the Western Mountaineering Bison Gore Infinium sleeping bag is most often chosen to serve. A full Gore Infinium shell makes this bag windproof and virtually waterproof while remaining lightweight and surprisingly compressible. Stuffed with over 40 ounces of 850+ fill down, the Bison has 10 massive inches of heat-trapping loft. Huge V-Block Side Baffles and horizontal baffles across your chest keep the down fill in place, and double Interlocking Draft Tubes and a down-filled Gore Infinium collar seal in heat while howling winds surround your tent. The huge hood is not only well-filled but is completely made with Gore Infinium and has a large ruff to seal your face from the elements. The Bison is the crowning glory of Western Mountaineering and demonstrates their commitment to innovation and quality. This life-saving bundle weighs in under 5 lbs and is the warmest bag you'll find anywhere.

Like all of Western Mountaineering's bags, the Bison down sleeping bag is made by hand in San Jose, California. Their down is sourced from free-range mother geese who are never live-plucked or force-fed.

The GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER® series enhances quality and performance, combining versatile aspects of support and comfort without the need for total waterproof protection. Durable water resistance combined with increased breathability, better packability, and optimized lightweight elements are the defining features of this technology. GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER® is totally windproof and provides highly water-resistant protection for unstoppable performance.

Check Out What’s Hot: Best In Show Gear From Summer ‘Outdoor Market Alliance’
Its a good year to be into gear! GearJunkie editors canvassed the Outdoor Market Alliance (OMA) in Lakewood, Colo., for 2 days. And while the biannual show has been going strong for years, we came away particularly impressed. We each met with as many brands as we could and then sorted through our collective notes. The list below was whittled...

More on Smartwool Founded in 1994 in Steamboat Springs, Colo., Smartwool was the first outdoor company to create performance merino wool ski socks, revolutionizing the category and forever changing the way outdoor enthusiasts viewed their feet. Since then, the brand has continued to innovate and perfect its craft, pushing the boundaries of whats possible with merino wool. Merino wool is...
Well-Dressed Hunter: Benchmade Crooked River Folding Knife Review
After spending much of the last year testing EDCs that push the limits of how small and light a pocket knife can be, I felt like I needed a changeup. So when Benchmade sent a sample of the Crooked River, a classically styled folder made for hunting and serious outdoor adventure, I was ready for it. With fishing season in...
See the Best New Baits From ICAST 2025
New baits are one of my favorite categories of products. They fill anglers with dreams of finding the lure that will result in a fish on every cast. Is that realistic? No, but its fun to dream. And while you may not have the coin to spring for a brand-new rod or reel, baits are relatively cheap, allowing virtually every...
Oversized, Out of Place, But Perfectly Balanced: Leatherman Pioneer Fixed Blade Review
Trends often dictate a brand’s next product, but not always. Over the last year, a slew of small pocket fixed-blade knives dominated the knife market. Generally less than 6 inches, they’re designed to be discreet and effective. But even as this sub-segment continues to grow and thrive, Leatherman opted to design its new line of Built Different fixed-blade knives as...
Learn, Listen, Connect: ‘The Big Thing’ Overland Event Goes Beyond Gear
While in Montana, attending a demonstration with Warn Industries’ Justin Walker, he asked what the most important piece of equipment for winching was. Although his answer was a pair of gloves, someone chimed in with, “Your mind.” I can’t argue with having a good set of work gloves on hand, but I also believe the participant was spot-on. This miraculous...
5 Things to Look For in a Bow Sight (Before You Regret Your Purchase)
Bow sights really have come a long way since I first shot a bow. Back then, I remember having pins that were painted different colors. My sight more resembled a bear trap than an actual bow sight. These days, we are beyond lucky with access to top-of-the-line engineered bow sights. And there are a lot of them to choose from....

The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek now comes as a hybrid. For the 2026 model year, Subaru is dumping the old 2.0 engine, going with a larger 2.5 as standard and combining it with a hybrid system as the upgrade. Subaru is also adding more standard features like rear seat airbags and keyless access, with more extra features coming to some of...

Keep It Simple, Stylish: Western Rise Evolution 2 Travel Pant Review
“What’s the best do-it-all pant?” I get asked this often, and it’s not an easy question, but I have an easy answer: the Western Rise Evolution 2 Pant. Most of us aren’t traveling 80 days a year or spending 200 nights a year in the field. While we like these opportunities and want more of them in our lives, gen...
Scuba Diving Gamechanger? Garmin Smart Buoy Levels Up Safety With Underwater Comms
Even in 2025, the primary methods for communicating with recreational scuba divers remain crude, at best. When its time for divers to return to their charter boat, the operators usually bang a metal pipe against the underwater hull, hoping that the clanging is loud enough to reach submerged clients. And the divers themselves still mostly rely on hand gestures to...
