Patagonia
Black Hole Duffel 100L (Fall 2023)
$175.20
Description

Classic super-durable duffel, now with recycled fabric

Patagonia's largest Black Hole duffel. Highly weather-resistant and stubbornly tough, it protects your gear from travel and rough handling. The main compartment opens via a zippered U-shaped lid, which has a pair of zip-closing mesh pockets on the underside for easily misplaced items like your headlamp, toothbrush and spork. A zippered exterior pocket holds all the stuff you need to access quickly. The padded bottom panel adds structure and helps cushion the load when your duffel gets the baggage-handler treatment. There are padded removable shoulder straps for a backpack carrying option, webbing handles with a snap closure and haul loops at either end that facilitate linking multiple bags. Four daisy chains let you lash additional gear to the outside. Made from burly, 900-denier 100% postconsumer recycled polyester ripstop with a TPU-film laminate and lined with 200-denier 100% recycled polyester with a polyurethane coating. Both fabrics have a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.

Footprint sold separately.

The Moves Should Be Hard, Not the Approach: Black Diamond Erratic Bouldering Crash Pad Review
Climbing brands are limited in developing bouldering crash pads. At the end of the day, all bouldering pads are, at their core, fabric-covered foam with backpack straps. Although Black Diamonds  Erratic Crash Pad is devoid of radical designs, it pushes the envelope of crash pad design. Its lighter than others, yet durable, and has a superb carrying system. The Erratic challenges...
Hike Colombia’s Hidden Ancient Ruins: Guide to the Ciudad Perdida Trek
“Let’s take the scenic route,” our guide announced to the group. We had only been on the trail to the Ciudad Perdida for about an hour, and we were already veering off course. He led us to a special swimming spot. I was already drenched in sweat by the tropical forest of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the highest...

This week, two lucky winners will receive a pair of deck shoes and slip-on sandals from XTRATUF (a $190 combined MSRP). Busch Camo CUP, Upcycled Cotopaxi Jackets, Vegan Backpack, and More Emerging Gear
We dont discriminate when it comes to new outdoor gear releases. If it looks cool and helps people get outside or keep themselves moving, then whats the problem? That allows us to appreciate chic biking packs alongside eye-popping skis and functional fishing vests. Theres always a bit of innovation to be found as well, like legacy brand Fox trying to...
Classic Looks, Airy Feel: Rudy Project Rebel Cycling Helmet Review
Many of my younger cycling compatriots dont recognize the Rudy Project name, but back in the 1990s, it was prominent in the pro cycling scene. The Italian brand had an undeniable style, protecting the eyes and heads of legendary cyclists like five-time Tour de France winner Bernard Hinault. Rudy Project is alive and well today, and its new Rebel helmet...
Finger-Length Flashlight Throws a Beam 1/3 Mile: Olight Baton Turbo Review
The Olight Baton Turbo, released this month, weighs 3.21 ounces (91 g). Thats about the weight of a deck of cards or three AA batteries. But push the button on this tiny torch and be amazed. On turbo, it launches 1,000 lumens to a distance of 1,673 feet (510 m). Its shocking to see such a bright, tight beam come...

Christopher Ward ‘Desk Diver’ Watch Will Never Scuba, but May Restore Faith in Humanity
Dive watches are an odd category of equipment. In the modern era, theyre pretty much obsolete for scuba diving. Sure, theyll still do what they always did and allow you to manually calculate decompression stops. But realistically, divers just dont use them anymore. Computers are better, safer, and easier. But that doesnt stop watch enthusiasts from placing them on a...
Ahead of the Pack: Lone Wolf Custom Gear D’Acquisto Series .5 Hang-On Treestand Review
Tree saddles are a convenient and lightweight way to hang-and-hunt for deer hunters. While they’re mostly comfortable, they still sacrifice a level of comfort and stability compared to hang-on treestands. In fact, when you compare them to lightweight treestands, saddles don’t offer much more than the hide-behind-the-tree claim to fame, but even this can be remedied if you know how...
Nepalis Block Flights to Manaslu Over Lack of Medical Access
The original version of this article was published on ExplorersWeb. Its been another busy climbing season on Manaslu. Every year about this time, the Himalayan mountain sees hundreds of ascents by paying clients. This year even saw a new record set by endurance athlete Tyler Andrews. But now, many of those climbers cant fly off the mountain after locals blocked...
