Comfort Plus Self-Inflating Mat (Fall 2021)
Sea to Summit
Comfort Plus Self-Inflating Mat (Fall 2021)
$104.30 - $125.30
Description

3 inches of comfort that's light and easy to use

Camping luxury has a new look and feel with the Comfort Plus Self Inflating Sleeping Mat. This is a lush, 3-inch thick, light and easy to use option for anyone after maximum comfort. The Delta Core™ technology removes weight and bulk without compromising comfort. A lightweight but luxurious 30D stretch knit fabric is used on the top surface and each mat is embossed with a non-slip grip print to keep your sleeping bag on the sleeping mat. Sea to Summit has literally put a twist on their multi-function valve to ensure super fast deflation without fighting re-inflation as you roll it up. The proprietary PillowLock™ system prevents your Aeros™ Pillow from slipping (pillow sold separately).

As of January 1 2020, all sleeping mat manufacturers will test mats for R-Value in independent labs using the ASTM standard F3340-18. Having one test standard provides clarity and transparency to consumers and allows comparisons across brands. Since the standard was published, Sea to Summit has continued to work with other sleeping mat manufacturers and with accredited labs to ensure that the testing is accurate and representative of actual mat performance.

The new test protocol will see some changes to previously published R-Values. It’s important to note that where values do change, it doesn’t signify a drop or increase in warmth—it simply means they have been tested using a slightly different scale.

The packaging of some mats will still carry the previous R-Value, but the mat itself has not changed.

Footprint sold separately.

SI MULTI-FUNCTION VALVE
Sea to Summit has literally put a new twist on their very successful multi-function valve so it specifically addresses the inherent characteristic of self-inflating mats - that is, the problem of the foam trying to re-inflate as you're packing up. They've engineered the "one-way" inflation valve to be reversed and used to prevent the mat from drawing air back in. This allows you to roll the mat up as small as possible without fighting re-inflation as you go. This patent-pending valve design has the same slim profile, faster inflation than traditional screw valves, easy pressure fine tuning, and super fast deflation rate as their air mattresses and pillows.
DELTA CORE™
The innovative Delta Core™ system maximizes the comfort and thickness of Sea to Summit's Self Inflating mattresses while minimizing weight and bulk. 40% of the initial volume of the PU foam is removed in horizontal Delta-shaped cores, giving minimal weight and packed size. Importantly, the top and bottom surface of the PU foam remain completely intact. This ensures consistent warmth along the full length of the mattress and significantly improves bonding of the foam to the shell fabric, which reduces the chance of delamination.

Fashion Over Function: Are Off-Road Tires the Right Choice?
I was recently in a closed-door meeting with an off-road tire manufacturer. The meeting revolved around the look of the tires sidewall and tread and had nothing to do with the tires performance. I think this is the trajectory of the off-road tire market — fashion over function. With that said, most new off-road tires from major manufacturers are quite...
Alaska Kills Nearly 100 Bears, Wolves by Helicopter in Effort to Bolster Caribou Populations
Nearly everyone agrees that Alaskas declining caribou population is a serious problem — but theres plenty of disagreement on how to solve it. This month, Alaska Department of Fish and Game officials announced the results of a program meant to increase the number of calves who survive summer months filled with hungry predators. They killed 81 brown bears and 14...
Volvo EX30 Delayed: Now Coming in 2025
The Volvo EX30 is supposed to be arriving at North American dealerships now. But today, the company announced to its dealers and preorder customers that theyll have to wait for a 2025 target delivery date to be announced. Volvos reasoning for this is due to changes in the global automotive landscape. That could mean a lot of things, from parts...

Has there ever been a better time to enjoy outdoor gear? This weeks selection of cool new stuff represents the twin poles of the industrys values: futuristic innovation and sustainable production. Style and functionality can coexist with an expert-level product. Recyclable Climbing Holds: What Sustainable Indoor Climbing Can Look Like
Climbers tend to be an ecologically sensitive group. But they clamber on constantly changing routes in climbing gyms, potentially unconcerned about the sustainability of the thousands of polyurethane or polyester holds. Sadly, especially in North America, most of these holds end up in the dumpster after the texture wears off. Although climbing hold recycling programs at rock gyms in the...

We Go Deep on Bowhunting Tech With Mathews Athlete Trail Kreitzer
Trail Kreitzer’s been bow hunting since he was a little kid — and he has the photographic evidence to prove it. From an early age, he would roam the hills and river bottoms surrounding his childhood home attempting to shoot jackrabbits and cottontails.    Years later, as an adult, Kreitzer’s passion for archery and bowhunting reignited (about 24 years ago), and...

How to Buy a Used Hunting Rifle
With the exception of a few, all my guns have previous owners. Most of them I bought while I worked in a gun shop during college or are family heirlooms (which my family also bought used). And I’ve had little to no functional issues with most of these rifles. In fact, some of them are nearly immaculate. I actually prefer...
