Wool Wardrobe for a Weekend Getaway: Huckberry ‘Proof’ 72-Hour Travel Kit Review
As the lead travel pant reviewer, I usually travel with a stack of clothes from multiple brands, putting them through their paces, and collecting feedback for the mens flannel and travel pant roundups. But not this time. I was heading to Japan, traveling like Id prefer, with a minimal kit, mostly merino wool. Two merino pants, a small stack of...
Tough Time: Hamilton Field Khaki Expedition Watch Review
When the Desert Dogs Offroad Adventures guide handed me the neck gaiter and told me Id need it for the dust, I knew things were about to get real. I was not surprised, but when you roll out to the Arizona desert to drive side-by-sides, you dont usually have a $950 watch strapped on as your test gear. Then again,...

Motorcycle Chariot Racing Is Real, and We Have to Try It
As I lazily scrolled Instagram, the algorithm fed me something Id never seen in my decade of involvement in motorcycle racing. Instead of two racers and one sidecar motorcycle, there were two motorcycles and one human. The driver was in a chariot, deftly controlling two motorcycles ahead by ropes. And then I knew: I had to figure out how to...
Her Mount Everest Record May Inspire More Nepali Women to Climb
Nepali photojournalist Purnima Shrestha doesnt fit the stereotype of the imposing and rugged mountaineer. She stands barely five feet tall, and comes across as soft-spoken and shy. Her easygoing attitude stands in sharp contrast to that of mountaineers who post their latest achievement on social media. When I met her at a cafe in Kathmandu, just five days after she...

This spring, you may want to ditch the laces on your next trail run. Backcountry hikers in the 21st century have come to rely on modern technology to stay safe. Did a sudden storm or accident place you in a dangerous situation? How Much Does Nick Offerman Love His Outdoor Gear? Let Him Count the Ways.
This is The Offerman Files, where actor, humorist, author, and woodworker Nick Offerman shares tales of wild creatures, gassy adventures, and hitting his brother in the face with a fish. A couple years ago, when two footfuls of plantar fasciitis caused me to switch from running to cycling for my daily cardio workout, I was excited to be reunited with my beloved but long-dormant...
First Look: XTRATUF Riptide Sandals
It’s rare to find a shoe that’s truly amphibious. Most sandals lack adequate protection for terrestrial use, while sneakers tend to skimp on ventilation and drainage. In the footwear world, land and water sit at either end of a broad spectrum. Some people say the gap can’t be bridged. Those people just haven’t met XTRATUF’s Riptide Sandals yet. If anyone...
