Next, he became a nationally-ranked speed climber. Albert's talent for problem solving and teachingand a willingness...

If youre looking for a sleek new van life option — Vanspeed would like a word. The Orange County-based company has launched the California Coast, a rig geared toward a variety of outdoor sports. Trade In Your Old Filson Gear, Get a Gift Card and a Chance to Win Big
Theres a chance some of you have Filson gear your great-grandparents bought. The 127-year-old Seattle outfitter built a reputation on durable outdoor goods designed to last a lifetime (and then some). And while some hand-me-down Filson gear may endure another generation or two, now you can trade in some old equipment for credit toward new items. Today, Filson announced it...
Get Heavy Work Done on All Terrains: BFG HD-Terrain T/A KT Tire Review
As a tradesman, I struggle when it comes to tires for my truck. Being able to handle heavy loads, rough terrain, big highway miles, and having complete confidence in my tires are all critical to my lifestyle. I need something that’s load-rated. When I’m filling my truck bed with gravel, or pulling a trailer fully loaded down with my skid...
Capitalism Stole Earth Day. Let’s Take It Back.
I’m a huge fan of Earth Day, but if I’m being real, it breaks my heart a little each year. Somewhere along the way, what started in 1970 as one of America’s most successful protests ever has turned into a massive marketing opportunity for companies to sell more stuff and flaunt their half-hearted initiatives. I’m not a cynical person, but...
The Best Camping Gear and Accessories

For outdoor enthusiasts with outsized toy collections, there’s no better way to travel. Whether you’re chasing swell, singletrack, steelhead, or some other white rabbit, this top-rated, thoroughly-tested gear...
The 21 Wildest East Coast Beaches
If you’ve ever lived along the East Coast, there’s a secret that all curious, outdoorsy people soon discover: the wildest, most deserted places are often those abutting the Atlantic. That’s right, the best East Coast beaches can be every bit as remote-feeling as Western landscapes. This is easier to comprehend when you realize that the East Coast has roughly 30,000...
The Best Snow Shovels of 2024
As ski hills begin to open, the holidays approach, and summer hikers start the slow transition to snowshoes, the growing seasonal excitement is palpable from coast to coast. Of course, winter isn’t all fun and games. As temperatures drop and the white stuff starts to pile up, residents of the most wintry locales are preparing for the added seasonal challenges...
Pesky PFAS: How One Bad Zipper Proves the PFC Problem
For years, an increasing number of outdoor brands have trumpeted the slow but steady removal of toxic or unnecessary chemicals, like fire retardants and BPA, from gear and clothing. But one massive classification of environmentally harmful and toxic chemicals persists: PFAS. A group of manmade chemicals that include PFCs (an outdated and less-inclusive term still frequently used by outdoor brands),...
Red Bull Athlete Attempts Near-Impossible ‘Open Loop Slide’ 42 Times in a Row
Sometimes, park features look like they were designed to break any skier or rider who attempts them. But never has one looked like such a death trap as Jesper Tjäders Loony Toons-style open loop slide he had built for this Red Bull video. As the title bluntly states, No one has ever tried this on skis before. How many crashes...
The Best Trail Running Shoes for Every Terrain
It is a great time to be a trail runner. Today’s smart shoe designers are using advanced materials, new geometries, and creative combinations of foams, plates, fabrics, outsole rubber, and lug depths to create models that are more capable on a variety of terrain than ever before. We’re wildly impressed with the Adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra, our Editors’ Choice,...
