Vasque St. Elias Review: Old-School Style Meets Modern Performance
We’re in a full throwback hiking-style renaissance. Nostalgia, sustainability, and market trends all play a part in the current zeitgeisty resurgence of Camp 4 staples like the updated Vasque St. Elias. This leaves heritage outdoor brands with a tough question: Do they lean into history or continue to innovate toward tomorrow? After all, the original gear had a function over...
This Fifth-Pocket Folder From CRKT Proves You Can Do a Lot With a Little
That odd little fifth pocket on your jeans was originally designed to carry pocket watches. It has become a catch-all since pocket watches went the way of the dodo. From guitar picks to house keys, and even the errant cough drop, the fifth pocket can even become your little personal trash can. Honestly, the options are endless. I grew up...
The Untold Story of the First All-Women Team Who Summited Denali 55 Years Ago
In 1970, six women made the first all-female ascent of Denali. Alaskan mountaineer Grace Hoemen led the team, which included talented climber and chemist Arlene Blum, New Zealand geologist Margaret Clark, and pilot (and Forbes family pariah) Margaret Young. Last week, the story of this historic achievement came into full focus with the March 4 release of Thirty Below, written...
Experts Break Down the $2 Million Nike Train Heists
Its like the logline for a Hollywood action movie: Deep in the Mojave desert, a team of outlaws boards a freight train and then pulls off a daring heist, making off with millions of dollars worth of limited-edition sneakers.    Well, maybe not the last part. But reality is sometimes weirder than fiction, and thats the case with the recent story...

He has two Olympic gold medals and five World Championship gold medals, and I’m not even the fastest guy in my unofficial weekly races back home. I know this, and yet, I’ve convinced myself that I can stay on Ligety’s tail as...

Hot Hammock in the Dead of Winter: Warbonnet Tsunami Review
The mercury was racing toward double-digit negatives with the same frenetic pace as my frozen hands and feet, setting up the Tsunami Hot Hammock Tent. When it was finished, I walked inside only to find an explosion of down and smoke. My first thought: Good thing I have a backup sleeping bag. My second thought: Fortress, though it may be,...
