Sycamore MF
$555.00 - $575.00
Description

Roomy and light with a hood; 25° F

WM sez: "It's your third day on the Colorado and you've been running rapids for as many days. The Grand Canyon looks different from a raft! It's a special place with an ancient Puebloan ruin just up the draw... If you can climb out of your Western Mountaineering Sycamore MF early enough, you might just see it before breakfast... With plenty of room and a hood just in case, the semi-rectangular Sycamore MF is made with our 1.2 ounce MicroLite XP™ to provide that extra margin in weather protection. Filled with 17 oz. of our high-lofting down this bag with 5" of loft is rated to 25° F. It sports 62" of girth at the shoulder and 46" at the foot. Not only will it zip to our mummy bags, but the zipper around the foot section lets it open up flat to be used as a comforter... This is the river runner's dream! This bag was formerly known as the "Hooded Aspen MF". Nothing about the bag has changed except its name." (Hard to improve on that description!)

Like all of Western Mountaineering's bags, the Sycamore MF is made by hand in San Jose, California. Their down is sourced from free-range mother geese who are never live-plucked or force-fed.

Footprint sold separately.

The Ideal Professional Photographer Bag: Tenba DNA 16 PRO Messenger Bag Review
One of the hardest parts about going to larger jobs like weddings and video shoots is the amount of gear you need to bring. I need at least a handful of lenses, my camera monitor, full-frame camera, tripod, water and snacks, and occasionally, my laptop and several cables.    I already have enough to keep track of and worry about. What...
Inside the Crisis Threatening America’s Avalanche Experts
When snow flurries fall on Seeley Lake, Montana, snowmobilers zip into the backcountry for another day of powdery bliss. The town, located 50 miles northeast of Missoula, boasts 400 miles of groomed trails through dense woods and over enchanting meadows, right to the foot of steep, snow-filled chutes. Five minutes from the trailhead and youre on really technical stuff, Karl...

At the age of 40 — and after 5 years in retirement — Lindsay Vonn returned to the racecourse on Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Stifel St. Moritz World Cup. The ski racing champion placed 14th, crossing the finish line just 1.18 seconds behind Austrian winner Cornelia Hütter (32). Do-It-All Gravel Bike Gets an Adventure Makeover: Trek Checkpoint SL7 AXS Gen 3 Review
Back in August, Trek expanded its gravel lineup with the launch of the all-new race-focused Checkmate and the redesigned Checkpoint SL Gen 3. While the media may have given the Checkmate the most launch coverage and attention at the time, it was the new Checkpoint that immediately caught my eye. It’s easy to get caught up in the hype of...
What Is Beef Tallow Actually Good For?
The tradwives of TikTok have superhuman trend-setting abilities. Theyve revived 1950s-style fashion and have made whipping up complicated recipes and even everyday household goods from scratch—like cough syrup and Coca-Cola—cool again. Now, beef tallow is a staple in their skincare routines and on their plates. Over the last month, TikTok has exploded with videos of people applying beef tallow as...

Wisconsin’s Ice Age Trail Is America’s Friendliest Thru-Hike
The Green Bay Packers were suddenly not the most interesting entertainment option in Mac’s Pub and Grub, a dim dive packed with people wearing Packers gear on a Sunday afternoon in October in the lakeside Wisconsin town of Merrimac. Unfortunately for me, I was. Midway through the first quarter, I had slipped inside Mac’s, found an unoccupied stool, and leaned against...
Why Taking a Long Training Break Is Good For You
Thanks to a wonky hamstring and some bad oysters, I’m currently coming back from a training hiatus of nearly a month. It’s an unfamiliar and somewhat unsettling feeling. So I have a lot of sympathy for Romuald Lepers, a French physiologist and dedicated triathlete who, in the name of science, agreed to take 12 weeks completely off training in 2022....
