These Tripods Stand Above the Rest: Peak Design Pro Tripod Review
Ive used a lot of janky camera tripods in my life. Some were cheapos from Walmart, others were old and inherited, and a few were from the CU Boulder equipment rental room. Ive also used some really nice tripods on shoots using Red Cameras in Alaskas Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) and elsewhere. But as soon as I got hold...
The Volunteers Who Could Save Your Life
When Hurricane Helene hit western North Carolina in the fall of 2024, the damage was devastating. But while most people sought safety, members of the Linville-Central Rescue Squad headed straight into the disaster zone. Technical training and long hours of practice enabled the all-volunteer team to provide critical response and support during the area’s catastrophic flooding. The event was unprecedented,...
The First Corvette ‘Hypercar’: Introducing the 2026 ZR1X
When Chevrolet relaunched the Stingray back in 2020, it pushed into entirely new territory with a first-ever mid-engine version of “America’s sports car,” pouring out as much as 495 horsepower. Of course, anyone who’s followed the history of the ‘Vette over the decades is well aware that the bowtie brand routinely rolls out a series of ever more exotic machines....

The video focuses on a proposal in the U.S. Senate that would authorize the sale of 3 million acres of federal public land. Warbritton clearly...
Gotta Have ‘Faith’: The Gear Nike Built to Take Down Women’s Sub-4-Minute Mile
About a year removed from the 2024 Olympics, elite running will return to Paris on June 26 in the form of Breaking 4, Kenyan runner Faith Kipyegons attempt to set the worlds first womens sub-4-minute mile. The attempt doesn’t come from nowhere. A February 2025 study in the Journal of Applied Physiology predicted a women’s sub-4 mile within the next...
The Best Rubber Hunting Boots of 2025
For hunters who find themselves stationary hunting in the cold or tromping through creeks and flooded fields, rubber hunting boots are a must. Sure, you can get by with your standard hunting boots, but youll quickly find yourself with frozen digits. Ive hunted whitetails in December in mountain hunting boots, which were far from ideal. With minimal insulation, it became...
Cushion for Long Days — Just Stick to the Trail: Nike Wildhorse 10 Review
I grew up running track and cross-country competitively in southern Colorado, when there were no trail running shoes available anywhere, even at specialty running stores. The luxury of choice simply didn’t exist for trail runners back then. As a kid, I ran the trails in daily trainers meant for the road. I can recall a time when the Salomon XA...
Video: Smart Layering Kept Me Cozy at Mount Everest Base Camp
The trek to Mount Everest Base Camp is the ideal setting to test gear, due to the rugged terrain, tough living conditions, and massive fluctuations in temperature. In May, our reporter Ben Ayers completed the 11-day hike to Mount Everest Base Camp, before spending a month living at 17,500 feet. During his reporting mission, Ayers tested a wide range of...

A missing hiker has been found after spending nine days lost in the Himalayan foothills in northern India. According to reports, the hiker, Samuel Vengrinovich, 44, survived the ordeal despite limited access to food and water. He also had a broken arm. He ate insects along the way to survive and was following the river to get to Dharamshala village,...
Flatwater-Friendly, Whitewater-Tough: Liquidlogic Remix XP Kayak Review
“You want to Rochambeau on it?” My paddling partner and I were scouting the first of the S-Bend rapids on Washington’s Skagit River, and while not the rowdiest water, my kayak was full to the brim with overnight camping kit, making for an unknown element in how it would fare. Carrying all this kit in a whitewater boat is a...
‘A Proper Loop’: Athlete Takes On 205-Mile Tor de Géants Despite Threats, Doubts, and Injuries
François DHaene is used to running 100-mile races through ultra-challenging mountain environments. But when he took on the Tor des Géants in Chamonix in 2024, he had no real idea what he was getting into. He overcame injuries, trained harder than he imagined, and set out to win one of the most grueling races in the European Alps. Not only...
2026 Nissan Leaf Grows From an Entirely New Tree
The 2026 Nissan Leaf has gone through a massive transformation. A real leaf might turn from green to red in the fall, but the Nissan Leaf has been transformed from a quirky hatchback into a sleek crossover with Ariya-like styling. Its not exactly rugged, but it should be a lot more appealing to the large number of buyers looking for...
