Boreas Campers has unveiled a base model for its line of off-road camper trailers: the UB Ultra-Base. Compared to the Colorado-based brands other models, the Ultra-Bases $15,000 price tag offers a cheaper alternative for adventurers looking for off-road capabilities in a more affordable, customizable package. A major source of the price cut comes from an empty interior instead of a fully converted, road-ready home on two wheels.
Thats because the Ultra-Base uses the same chassis as the $45,000 Boreas XT — but without all of the additional turnkey basecamp features. What you still get is a durable shell of an off-road camper, with long travel suspension and all-terrain tires, as well as a fully articulating hitch on a solid chassis.

“We’re excited to offer the high-level off-road performance Boreas Campers is known for while targeting a broader market based on a more affordable price,” Matt Reichel, founder and president of Boreas Campers, said in a release, “The UB is a great way for newer campers to get into a Boreas and start exploring off road, seasoned campers to upgrade their rig and bring their existing gear, and DIY builders to have a rock solid foundation to build upon. It is a really great option for a wide range of folks.
The Ultra-Base comes with independent suspension; (photo/Boreas Campers) Boreas UB Ultra-Base: Details The UB Ultra-Base offers a minimal yet robust design. Its most likely ideal for those who prefer a hands-on approach to building their dream camper.
Constructed with 1.8-inch-thick Boreas composite panels with a woven FRP exterior and XPS foam core, the cabin has lots of insulation. That means it will keep you comfy in varied climates beyond the conventional camping season, according to the brand.
With a cabin measuring 57 inches wide, 106 inches long, and 45 inches high, the UB should have enough room for custom layouts that include a bit of storage. While you wont find much on the inside, however, the UB’s chassis and off-road suspension havent been downgraded from Boreas’ more premium models. It comes equipped with 17-inch steel wheels, BFG All-Terrain KO2 tires, and CruiseMaster CRS2 independent suspension.
The fully articulating hitch; (photo/Boreas Campers) The UB Ultra-Base also maintains practical features. That includes double doors with Tern Overland windows, blackout shades, and bug screens, along with a MaxxAir 6200 All Weather fan for ventilation. Plus, it should be easy to carry gear like bikes or storage boxes thanks to front and rear hitch receivers capable of holding up to 400 pounds. Theres also an optional moto tray.
Boreas Campers seems fairly confident in the build, since you also get a lifetime chassis warranty.
Boreas UB Ultra-Base: Pricing Availability The Boreas UB Ultra-Base could be a great choice for those who already have some experience with camper trailers, and a solid idea of what they want from an interior. Its available now on the Boreas Campers website.
An empty interior waiting for a creative touch; (photo/Boreas Campers) Unlike Boreas’ flagship model, the Boreas XT, and its comprehensive set of built-in amenities, the UB Ultra-Base opts for simplicity and affordability. Its easy to see how that could appeal to van lifers who dont have the bucks to pay someone else for a full conversion.
However, its possible to pay a similar price for an off-road camper trailer that already comes with a converted interior. Our guide to affordable campers includes options like the Hiker Trails Extreme Off Road ($15,000), the Oregon Trailer’sDoDrop Alpha($13,250), or the TC Teardrop Off-Road Expedition ($13,500).
But for DIY-obsessed adventurers who want flexibility and a solid foundation, the Ultra-Base looks like a potential winner. See all the specs and build options at Boreas Campers.
