Decathlon Forclaz Jackets offer a wide range of insulation and performance for your winter treks. The Forclaz name indicates a line of Decathlon goods designed with hiking and backpacking in mind. (It is an extension of the French word for narrow passages between mountains.)
The numbers that follow Beyond the Forclaz name, like MT500 and MT900, hint at the level of insulation and activities the jackets are designed to work best with.
Below, well see three of several Decathlon Forclaz jackets made for different temperatures and activity levels. To some degree, they are just the tip of the iceberg, as each jacket is often available with a hood or without one — and in lower insulation pieces, as a vest.
Special offer: For a limited time, any purchase of a down jacket comes with a free Decathlon 20L NH100 backpack. This offer runs through October 31 or while quantities last.

Designed for backpacking, this lightweight down jacket can be worn as a third layer (over a long-sleeve shirt and light fleece) for an active comfort temperature down to 23 degrees.
The Forclaz MT100 boasts 800-fill-power insulation made with Responsible Down Standard certified down. Its packable and weighs just over 10 ounces (in size L). The exterior fabric is polyamide, and the filling is 90% down and 10% feathers. The jacket has a water-resistant treatment, but youll want to pack a hard shell to wear over it in case of rain or snow over a long time.
Its also a great option for everyday wear during the winter, as the jacket should keep you comfortable down to 41 degrees when sitting still.

For activities when the temperatures dip below freezing, the MT500 uses RDS down with a fill power of 660 cubic inches behind a 100% polyamide outer fabric. Worn as a third layer, it tests out for a comfort range between 14 degrees and 32 degrees.
Despite the 500 number, this jacket has a 660 fill from 90% grey duck down and 10% grey duck feathers. The insulation rests behind a polyamide lining and polyester shell fabric.
The jacket has two hand pockets and a chest pocket with a zipper to keep your smartphone or wallet secure. It comes with a storage bag to stash and pack the jacket, which weighs approximately 15.5 ounces (in size L).

The MT900 brings enough RDS down (660 fill power) to keep you comfortable while active in temperatures down to 0 degrees. Around camp and other static scenarios, it should keep you comfortably warm down to 23 degrees. Zippered air vents let you dump heat from armpit hotspots while hiking.
It has a water-repellent fabric bolstered by a waterproof hood and shoulder panels to prevent wetting out in the most exposed areas and reinforce high-wear spots.
The MT900 weighs roughly 1.5 pounds (in size L), yet still packs down into its inner pocket when you want to stash it in a backpack.
