Jan 29, 2025 11:59 PM

High-end knifemaker GiantMouse, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has issued a voluntary recall of its GM12 and GMP12 folding knives. The Michigan-based company warns of a laceration hazard posed by a potentially faulty locking mechanism. GiantMouse is asking owners of these knives to immediately stop using them and store them in a safe place, and to contact the brand for a full refund or repair.

According to the CPSC, there have been eight incidents reported to GiantMouse about this issue. The recall will affect about 600 of the Italian-made knives. So far, there have been no reports of injuries.

GiantMouse Folding Knife Recall The GM12 and GMP12 folding knives have button-lock mechanisms. Both carry 3.3-inch MagnaCut steel blades. The GMP12 has a PVD-coated blade and milled bronze handle scales, and it retails for $425. The GM12 has a stonewashed blade and milled titanium scales, and it costs $385.

If you own a GM12 or GMP12 included in this recall, GiantMouse advises you to stop handling the knife immediately and keep it in a safe place, and then contact the brand for a full refund or repair.

Those affected by the recall should follow the steps on the official recall page and notify GiantMouse whether they prefer a refund or repair. GiantMouse will send owners a return label and issue refunds once it receives the knives.

For those who opt for a repair, GiantMouse will catalog all information so customers receive the same knife they sent in. The knives will be shipped to Italy for repair and returned to the customer within 60 days. Those who purchased an affected knife on the secondary market will only be eligible for a refund.

Head over to the GiantMouse recall page for more information and to submit a claim.
