The Best Women’s Slippers of 2024
Oct 5, 2024 3:41 PM

Few things feel better than kicking off your shoes and sliding into a comfy pair of slippers at the end of the day. The best women’s slippers can help your feet forget a full day of walking around at work, a brutal workout, or a long, rocky hike to base camp.

But it isn’t easy to dial down the perfect pair of slippers for every individual. Each person has different needs and personal preferences, so finding the perfect one can require a woman to test multiple pairs. So test we did. We took a load of women’s slippers for test runs, gauging each one on aspects like comfort, style, support, and warmth.

Whether you need slippers to recover after a workout, unwind after a long day of work or play, or just keep your feet warm on hardwood floors, there’s a pair that can work for you. If you want to get straight to the point, check out our comprehensive buyers guide and FAQ at the bottom of the article. If you’re still having trouble, our comparison chart can help you make a decision. Otherwise, read our complete gear guide below.

The Best Women’s Slippers of 20242

Pros Rabbit fur lining is ridiculously soft Fit just gets better over time Purchases directly support Indigenous artists Cons Some people may want more support Cleaning requires some care Definitely not vegan Billy Brown Designed by Indigenous artists and based on traditional Indigenous footwear, the Manitobah Metis Moccasin ($145) is flexible, durable, and incredibly soft. Part of that softness comes from the sheepskin footbed and full-grain leather. But the real star of the show is the rabbit fur lining, which is by far the softest, coziest experience we’ve had during our test time.

Crazy softness aside, the Metis feels more like a barefoot shoe than a slipper, thanks to the flexible crepe rubber outsole and overall flexibility. That crepe rubber outsole gives the slipper a toughness that allows you to wear it outside as well. And the way it feels, you may just start wearing these slippers anywhere.

And while some slippers lose their shape or fall apart over time, the Manitobah Metis Moccasin just gets better. The soft leather of the slipper breaks in and molds to your feet, creating an even better fit as you break them in.

The one ding that we found with this slipper is that its materials require some extra care. You’re not going to just toss these in the wash when they need a refresh. Fortunately, Manitobah provides cleaning instructions on its website. But if you’re willing to put in some extra care, you’re not going to find a more comfortable slipper.

The Best Women’s Slippers of 20243

Pros Soft woven polyester and fleece lining Mattress foam insole Durable knit polyester exterior Vegan Cons Outsole can get slippery on hard surfaces Billy Brown Lightweight, soft, and extremely comfortable, the Naot Recline ($70) is designed for all-day wear. This is thanks in part to the slippers’ midsoles, which are made from soft, supportive mattress foam padding. The result was a combination of comfort and support that we rarely found in this price range.

At half the price of other options on this list, the Recline offers comfort without breaking the bank. The fleece interior was reminiscent of a high-end robe when worn barefoot, and it was smooth enough to never snag on a pair of socks on a chilly morning.

The only real issue our tester had was in the mule design. While the interior was plush and comfy, it was a bit snug. It had a way of squeezing our tester’s feet out the backs of the shoe. This abated somewhat as the slipper eventually broke in, but it was pretty annoying at first.

Overall, though, the Naot Recline is soft, durable, and won’t break the bank. Plus, it’s completely free of any animal products, so if you’re looking for an affordable vegan slipper, this is the way to go.

The Best Women’s Slippers of 20244

Pros Soft wool interior Odor-resistant Leather or rubber outsole options Moisture-wicking Cons Fits loose on narrow feet Billy Brown When it comes to natural materials, it’s hard to beat wool for its comfort, odor resistance, and moisture management. Made almost entirely from wool, the Glerups Women’s Slip-On ($100) embodies all of these traits. It kept our tester’s feet cool in warm weather, warm in cool weather, kept her feet dry, and kept foot odor to a minimum.

We tested the slip-on version without the heel, but these also come in ankle-height boots or heeled shoes as well. You also have the option of choosing a leather outsole for strictly indoor use or a rubber slipper to wear outside or use as camp shoes.

The leather-soled version that we tested was perfect for indoor use. The outsole was flexible enough to provide a slipper-like feel indoors but was still tough enough to use for quick trips outside to grab something from the car or bring in packages. Plus, the leather still kept its grip on our tester’s hardwood floors when she’d play chase with the cats or groggily staggered downstairs to make coffee in the morning.

The only real issue we found with these is that the Glerups Women’s Slip-On offers a loose fit on narrower feet. Our tester usually wears socks with her slippers, so it wasn’t an issue, but it’s worth noting.

The Best Women’s Slippers of 20245

Pros Durable full-grain suede leather exterior Excellent traction Super-soft lining Soft footbed Cons Shearling loses its loft over time Billy Brown OluKai is known for making some of the most comfortable footwear on the market, so its no surprise that the OluKai Ku’i ($140) slippers rank among our favorites. Made with a durable full-grain leather exterior and a grippy Wet Grip Rubber outsole, these slippers are excellent house shoes, and they’re also ideal for coffee runs or taking the dog for a lap around the park.

What really makes these slippers stand out is the soft shearling lining. Not only does it line the inside of the slipper, but it also curls up over the outside to wrap the ankles in its luxurious softness. Our tester also appreciated the wool footbed, which was soft, odor-resistant, and kept foot sweat to a minimum.

The only issue that we found with the OluKai Ku’i was that the interior shearling eventually lost its loft over time, a similar issue that we had with Olukai’s men’s slippers. While this didn’t affect the exterior shearling, it did mean that the inside of the slipper lost some cush after extended wear.

$140 at REI$140 at Amazon Most Durable Women’s Slippers Hari Mari Sofia Specs Material Nubuck leather exterior, shearling lining Footbed Memory foam Outsole Rubber

The Best Women’s Slippers of 20246

Pros Durable exterior Plushy soft lining Plenty of cushion underfoot Cons Can retain odor when worn without socks Billy Brown It’s hard to go wrong with a well-built classic slipper. The Hari Mari Sofia (($125) is a classic moccasin slipper design made with a weather-treaded nubuck leather exterior and extremely soft Texas shearling lining. The rubber outsole is grippy and tough enough to wear on errands, and the memory foam footbed is a perfect blend of soft and supportive.

During testing, these slippers stood out for their simplicity. There are no fancy frills or accouterments besides a subtle contrast stitching on the upper. But while they look like a simple slipper, the Sofia is designed to stand out when you put them on. And the star of the show is the Texas Shearling.

We don’t know what’s different about those Texas sheep, but the shearling lining in these slippers is outstanding. It’s soft enough to go toe-to-toe with any other slipper we teated, but it’s by far the toughest. While other slippers’ lining eventually lost some loft over time, these slippers stayed fluffy after months of wear.

And that holds true for the rest of the slipper as well. After months of thorough testing, the tough-weather-treated leather and rubber outsole still looks new. Time will tell just how long these slippers last, but if you only want to buy one pair of slippers for the foreseeable future, the Hari Mari Sofia just might be the one.

How We Tested Women’s Slippers If you’re a fan of the outdoors, the odds are you spend a lot of time on your feet. Whether you put your miles in by walking, hiking, running, or pedaling, they’re putting in the work. So it pays to make sure they get a little rest every now and then.

The GearJunkie staff has spent cumulative lifetimes finding ways to help our feet rest and recover for the next adventure. Whether it’s with massage guns, lacrosse balls, or sometimes, just some cushy relaxation, we know about taking care of our feet.

We used that experience to find the best women’s slippers, searching out the best ones for a variety of scenarios and applications. If any shoes were uncomfortable or didn’t stand out in any meaningful way, they didn’t make this list.

For the ones that did, we rigorously tested them on things like warmth, comfort, softness, and durability. More or less, it meant a lot of taking it easy while taking notes. We’re not mad about it.

As you might guess, this is a pretty sweet, gig, so as new slippers hit the market, we’ll call them in and test them out to ensure that this guide is consistently up to date.

Why You Should Trust Us Gear Junkie Editor Billy Brown knows footwear. As a former footwear editor for national publications and a former long-distance runner, he knows what goes into making a comfortable slipper.

Lead tester Heather Brown has graciously accepted the job of testing women’s slippers for this update. Her testing consisted of wearing them and evaluating them based on the parameters set forth in this guide and adding insights where applicable.

Our lead tester hard at work with the Hari Mari Sofia; (photo/Billy Brown) Buyer’s Guide: How to Choose the Best Women’s Slippers The best women’s slippers should be a pair that you want to slip into as soon as you get into the house. Since you’ll be wearing them every day, it’s important to make sure that the slippers you buy hit all the right notes. Some things to consider when shopping for a pair of women’s slippers are comfort, fit, durability, materials, and value.

Looking to complete the cozy trifecta? Check out our lists of the best sweatpants and best wool sweaters.

Comfort It seems like a no-brainer, but we’ll say it: Comfort is of paramount importance when buying slippers. If you don’t look forward to wearing them, they’re not the right ones.

Look for a pair of slippers that are snug, but not restricting. A soft shearling interior lining like the OluKai Ku’i is a great option. As a bonus, some slippers like the Manitobah Metis Moccasins have linings that spill into the outside of the foot as well.

The Best Women’s Slippers of 20248

The rabbit fur lining on the Manitobah Metis is luxuriously soft; (photo/Billy Brown) Also, you may want a soft, supportive footbed. Look for ones made with materials like the Hari Mari Sofia’s memory foam or the Naot Recline’s mattress foam.

If you’re looking for a simpler shoe without as much cushioning but plenty of softness, the Glerups Women’s Slip-On is a great choice. Basically, a wool bootie with a thin outsole, the Slip-On gives you a soft surface without a squishy midsole.

Fit Shoes of any kind that don’t fit well aren’t going to be comfortable. While slippers can be a bit more forgiving, they’ll feel a lot better if they fit right out of the gate.

Since fit preferences vary from person to person, the perfect fit is different for everyone. Do you want something that provides a snug fit? The Hari Mari Sofia has a thick shearling lining that almost feels like compression.

The Best Women’s Slippers of 20249

The tread on the OluKai Kui is ideal for outdoor use; (photo/Billy Brown) Want something looser? Look for a mule-style clog, like the OluKai Ku’i or Naot Recline. Also, the Glerups Women’s Slip-On provides a looser fit as well.

Durability Like all kinds of apparel, slippers should be more comfortable as you wear them, but they need to last long enough for that to happen. The best slippers should provide you with years of podiatric bliss.

The slippers on this list have held up to months of testing, thanks to durable materials like full-grain leather or durable wool blends.

The Best Women’s Slippers of 202410

The Texas shearling liner on the Hari Mari Sofia stays lofty over time; (photo/Billy Brown) You should also consider the outsole, particularly if you want to wear them outside. While the Glerups Women’s Slip-On can come with indoor-ideal leather soles, all of the slippers on this list have durable rubber outsoles for outdoor use.

Material There are countless materials available when it comes to women’s slippers. During our testing, a blend of high-grade leather on the exterior with a high-quality rubber on the outsole is an ideal recipe for longevity.

The two exceptions on this list are the Glerups Women’s Slip-On, made of wool, and the Naot Recline, which are free of animal products. However, both have held up to testing without breaking down so far.

Value The women’s slippers on this list range in price from $70 to $145. You can easily spend less on a pair of slippers, but you may be sacrificing the comfort and longevity that you’d get with a premium pair. The Naot Recline offers excellent value as theyre warm, have a mattress foam footbed, and are around half the price of our top pick.

Rather than buy a new pair every year or so, it pays to find slippers that you can keep for years on end without them breaking down. If you’re willing to pay a bit more for it, you’ll likely be satisfied with your investment.

FAQ Which brand of slippers are most comfortable? There are lots of excellent slippers out there, but we’ve found that footwear-specific brands tend to make our favorite slippers. We’re big fans of Hari Mari and OluKai for their consistently comfy footwear.

How do I choose the best slippers? Choosing the best pair of slippers for you is a matter of deciding what makes you comfortable. Do you want a soft, cushy lining? Consider the Manitobah Metis Moccasin or OluKai Ku’i. Want something durable that you can wear outside? Consider the Hari Mari Sofia. Feel like something a little more minimalist? The Glerups Women’s Slip On is a simple yet soft and durable wool option.

Are Olukai slippers worth the price? OluKai can seem pricey, but they use premium materials and put a lot of thought into their designs. The result is footwear that is consistently comfortable, durable, and stylish.
