Most people would shudder at the idea of launching themselves on skis into the air and across a road. But using a gas-powered winch to ramp up your speed for a world record-sized road gap attempt? It would be a death sentence for almost anyone —except for Josh Daiek. For the 40-year-old pro skier from Detroit, it was a vision he wouldnt stop thinking about until he tried it.
But when he finally did, it didnt go down like hed planned at all.
This is actually Daieks second time jumping this road gap. When he successfully attempted it in 2019, he set a world record for the biggest road gap ever landed on skis. That was mid-winter, though. This time around, when Daiek returned, he did so in spring and upped the ante with a gas-powered winch and parachute.
Check out the video from Daiek, who posted it to remind us that everyone is human, we all make mistakes, and that things sometimes just dont go how you want them to.
