Life gives us many reasons to turn to caffeine for energy. But coffee feels especially potent when given to a campsite full of exhausted, muscle-sore hikers.
And as a coffee addict myself, Ive grown to accept that a preference for good coffee has slowly crept up on me over the years. While Ill drink an instant Nescafe, Id still prefer a fresh cup of joe from my french press.
Thats probably why YETI, the Austin-based brand known for big coolers and brawny insulated vessels, just dropped two large french presses aimed at brewing delicious coffee anywhere you take them.
Available in two sizes — a 34-ounce for $110 and a 64-ounce for $130 — the YETI Rambler French Press is mostly made with stainless steel, aiming for durability on the trail. The larger option could be very helpful for large camping groups needing to caffeinate quickly.
However, the presses also include a few other features.
(Photo/YETI) YETI Rambler French Press: Details For starters, the presses have the double-walled insulation of YETI tumblers to keep your coffee hot through those long, slow camp mornings of packing and organizing gear.
But wait! Wont that make the coffee go bitter as the grounds continue to brew? Supposedly not, according to YETI.
The YETI plunger includes what the brand calls a GroundsControl filter. Its meant to stop the brewing process after plunging, allowing the consumer to keep their coffee hot in their YETI French Press vessel without over-extracting their coffee.
Over-extraction is one of the banes of coffee lovers existence. Is it possible YETI found a solution? Until we try it, we cant say for certain.
But if it works, the feature would make the YETI Rambler a great option even at home, where I suspect many of us have a tendency to let coffee sit in the french press for too long.

Stay tuned for the GearJunkie review! Wed like to see how these stack up against the $70 Classic Stay Hot French Press from Stanley, or the $19 Silicone Coffee Press accessory for your JetBoil.
Neither of those have the features of YETIs french press, however. So were stoked to get our hands on these and do a taste test — purely in the name of science, of course.
